MTV Shuga Naija, an MTV Staying Alive Foundation initiative, is back to offer super exciting and educative entertainment as new storylines and new casts members are added to the fifth season of MTV shuga naija. The storyline focuses on Gender – Based Violence and COVID-19, while continuing to address HIV prevention.
Sometime last year, MTV Shuga Naija launched a search for outstanding young talent through online auditions that received numerous applications. The two winners of these auditions – Kanaga Emmanuel Eme and Chioma Edak – have been chosen to play lead roles on this TV series, with other new cast members for the supporting roles.
The fifth season features co stars of Netflix series ‘Far from home’ Genovevah umeh and Gbubemi Ejeye.
Susan Pwajok – an actress and social media influencer. Best known on screen for her role in the popular Nigerian family drama series, The Johnsons, has been chosen as a cast member. So also, well loved Pan African MTV Base Culture Squad member, ilooise omohinmi.
Some of the cast members took to their Instagram page to announce their characters in the TV series, MTV Shuga Naija season 5
Other new cast members include: Maggie Osuome, Kiki omeili, Gbubemi Ejeye, Lexan Peters, Francis onwochei, Ben Touitou, Ken Ajeh ikechukwu, Okey Uzoeshi, John Njamah, Chioma Edak and Bolaji Ogunmola.
Returning casts include: Adesua Etomi- Wellington, Tomiwa Tegbe and Sharon Jatto.

This new season is set to primiéré by April this year on MTV BASE ( DSTV channel 322 and GOTV channel 72 ), BET and the free platform, NTA. All episodes will also be available on Netflix and YouTube.
