Hey guys, its a new week, and we are super excited to bring you our spotlight art of the week. Your favorite MCM, our favorite MCM at the moment – Mawuli Gavor

We fell in-love with his art after seeing him take on the role Tess On African Magic MNET series “HUSH”. Are you as inquisitive as we were about Mawuli? Then find out how he answered our 25 Questions tag….

1; Describe Mawuli Gavor in 5 words.

I like to enjoy life.

2; Tell us about yourself, country, education, religion? what’s your story in a nutshell.

Christian. God first always. Ghanaian born. Went to high school in Ghana. University in the states. Studied Business Management and Finance. Got recruited by a new york city talent agency. Pretty much kicked off everything entertainment related, although it was always meant to be something I did on the side. Moved back to Ghana got a job as an auditor with one of the international accounting firms. Started out doing billboard shoots and tv ads on the side eventually it became impossible to handle both sides of my life. Quit my job and focused full time on working in media and entertainment. Got offered a role on a major Mnet series, Hush, which required me to move to Nigeria. Fast forward two and a half years here we are.

3; How did Acting Begin for you, share with us your journey to the movie industry.

Had a bit of fortune/grace on my side. A lot happened for me pretty quickly after I moved back to Ghana. Probably because I had an insanely efficient manager. He introduced me to one of the best directors on the continent, Shirley Frimpong Manso, who happened to be preparing to shoot a major film. She took a chance on me and offered me one of the major roles. Starred in Devil in the Detail for her, and continued to be in a number of her productions.  Everything else pretty much took off from there.

4; You’ve been part of some intresting series like Hush, Battleground Final showdown, web series like Rumour Has it amonsgt others and of course some major projects in the Nollywood Scene … can you tell us what its like being part of each projects?

Each project is different, but the one thing that stays the same is the friendships you walk away with. Almost everyone I shoot with(cast and crew), especially over an extended period of time almost invariably becomes family to me. All of those projects were amazing but its mainly getting to work with some of the actors, directors and crew members that made them memorable.

5; What projects are you currently working on and what should we expect from you in 2019?

Acting/presenting forms probably half of what I spend my time on so at the moment I’m taking a bit of a breather from constant shooting to focus on my other businesses. I co run a small production company specializing in content creation for television, online and in flight platforms so we’re putting a bit of focus on that for now. We released our first film, Entangled, last year, and are set to release our second (A Sunday Kind of Love) and third later on this year. Releasing a limited edition apparel line sometime later this year as well.

6; What is the one thing, people will be surprised to know about you?

Don’t know what people know so I have no idea what would surprise them. Might possibly find it odd that Im prone to bursting into tears of happiness if im watching an action film and the hero does something fantastic.

7; Why did you choose acting as a career path?

It chose me as much as I chose it. Can’t tell you why exactly If im being honest. Life happens the way its meant to sometimes.

8; How long have you been acting?

3 years.

9; Are you happy with your career so far? And why Nigeria?

Happy enough. Nigeria has been more than good to me.

10; What Actors would you like to work with in the future?

I don’t really have a wish list when it comes to film projects. Popular or unknown I enjoy working with almost everyone I film with.

11; If not acting, what other career would you have chosen?

No way of knowing. Could’ve ended up anywhere from a Pastor to a Geologist.

12; In which area would you like to improve as an actor?

Every way possible. Never ending process.

13; What sort of acting roles will you be looking out for in the future?

Wouldn’t say I look out for roles. If it’s meant to be it’ll either find you or the opportunity will present itself for you to try out for it.

14; Who in the whole world inspires you most and why?

Can’t name a one particular person. My family probably.  Unlikely i’d be where I am without them, but i find that most people in my life inspire me in a myriad of ways.

15; What is on your bucket list?

List changes every year. But at some point I intend to fly a plane.
