This week, we have Sophie Alakija as our spotlight art of the week. Although her answers were quite direct and straight to the point, its a pleasure to have her here, as we’re quite a huge fan of her ART. Here is how she answered our 21 Questions.
Describe Sophie Alakija in 5 words. – Sophie is, weird, fun, inquisitive, caring and quiet/ish
Tell us about yourself, state of origin, (Country) education, religion? what’s your story in a nutshell. – I’m easy going, really. I’m a partly Lebanese, partly Nigerian who grew up in surulere and who’s also married with 2 children.
How did Acting Begin for you, share with us your journey to the movie industry. – My husband and I got talking and he said I should go for auditions, just might get a role. Eventually met Hon. Desmond Elliot, auditioned and he put me through which I’m very grateful for. I’ve had challenges along the way but God has been faithful.
What is the one thing, people will be surprised to know about you? – I can cook 👩🍳
As a public figure, what’s your opinion on Politics? Feminism? Democracy? Stereotypes? And Rape? – I’d rather keep my opinions on these topics as they are very sensitive. I’ll say everyone should be careful and keep minding their business.
Why did you choose acting as a career path? – I’ve always wanted to be an actor. That’s my big dream.
How long have you been acting? = I’ve been acting professionally for 3 years now.
Are you happy with your career so far? – I’m truly grateful. Also thankful for a platform like IROKOtv putting us out there
What Actors would you like to work with in the future? – I would love to work with Cate Blanchett, Leonardo Di Caprio
If not acting, what other career would you have chosen? – Full time entrepreneur
In which area would you like to improve as an actor? – All areas. In my opinion, as an actor you don’t stop growing, in every aspect, you keep building your skills.
What sort of acting roles will you be looking out for in the future? – More challenging ones definitely
How do you deal with fame and bad publicity? – I don’t think I’ve gotten to that level of ‘fame’ enough to have an opinion on how to deal with it. I pay no attention to bad publicity
What was the most hurtful comment about you you’ve ever read? – There are usually a bunch of hateful comments but I don’t remember a single one. Couldn’t care less.

Who in the whole world inspires you most and why? – My children inspire me. All I want to be is ‘the best’ , because of them
Birth Place? – Born in Lagos
What is on your bucket list? – A whole lot of stuff. Featuring in a Hollywood project is one of them
What item in your closet do you wear the most? – Jeans
What is your beauty secret? – Minding my business 😂
What is one thing you wish you knew when you were younger? – Life is hard
What is your greatest indulgence? – Child birth
What should every woman try at least once in her life? – Oysters
