Describe Adeolu Adefarasin in 5 words.
Adeolu – Driven, Quiet, Ambitious, Creative and purposed.
How did Acting Begin for you, share with us your journey to fame. What’s your story.
Adeolu – I had fallen in love with acting from a young age, I always knew I wanted to be an actor and chased it vehemently. I went on to do my bachelors degree in acting followed by moving to New York and do a further course at the New York Film Academy. When I moved back to Nigeria my goal was to be in productions that were of a high quality with good interesting stories that struck a chord and I believe I have managed to do that. There has been a lot of favour and doors opened that I never imagined would. I think I’m very much still on that journey but I have been blessed with great opportunities, roles and films and just to act with some of the actors I’ve had the chance to work with.
You’ve been in quite a number of movies recently! How did you get those roles? And how would you describe the experiences?
Adeolu – Roles have come in different ways, for the large part, you’re auditioning and auditioning and auditioning some more. It takes a lot of persistence cause you’ll not get more than you get. For a couple I have been specifically sought after which is always a good feeling. The experience is interesting, mostly good, always interesting, some can be frustrating, long hours, late nights but they always end up fun and worthwhile.
On your journey to fame: What movie would you say brought you to limelight?
Adeolu – I think it was a show and it would have been Skinny Girl In Transit for sure.
How do you feel about social media bullies? And have you ever been bullied on social media?
Adeolu – I think social media bullies are cowards that thrive off anonymity and it is something that has to be dealt with cause it brings a lot of hurt to people. If I am a victim of social media bullying I haven’t noticed it, I don’t really give comments that much space in my mind.
What projects are you currently working on? What should we expect from you before the year runs out?
Adeolu – Hopefully before the end of the year you will see a film with myself, Gabriel Afolayan, Sharon Ooja, Sambasa along with many others. I am currently focused on my talk show, Shop Talk NG.
Are you single? In a relationship? Or secretly married? What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever done for love?
Adeolu – I am in a relationship, haha but no not secretly married. The craziest thing, I’ve done for love, when I was young, like 13, I had a crush on this girl in my class and I used to write all this love letters, but I was to shy to give them to her.
What would be a question you’d be afraid to tell the truth on.
Adeolu – If I answer that question: I’ll get asked it immediately! But honestly I can’t think of one, not to say there isn’t one.
Would you say you’re living the life you’ve always dreamt of?
Adeolu – I’d say I’m living the life I never even dreamt of and I’m excited for what else God has in store for me.
If not acting: what other profession would you have chosen?
Adeolu – I’m a very strong creative, I always had a passion for writing so it’s something I wish I explored more and may still try to do in the future, I’d like to write a novel some day.
Internationally; which Actor would you like to work with? And in Nigeria? Why?
Adeolu – Internationally I’d love to work with Idris Elba cause Luther is one of my favourite shows and I hugely respect his TV career. And in Nigeria, I’d love to work with Mrs Funke Akindel Bello., I’d love to see her work up close and learn from that quality when it comes to comedy.
What is the strangest thing you’ve being required to do as an actor?
Adeolu – I think being wrapped like a mummy in the wedding party currently tops that list.
As an Actor, What has been your favorite role? And what role would you consider your most challenging role so far?
Adeolu – I think I’ve had the most fun with Funsho in The Eve, it was my first lead role, so it was huge for me and it was fun to cut my teeth in to that kind of work. My most challenging role has been Patrick in New Money cause he was probably the character furthest from me in real life, which made him fun to play.
