Prof. Ben Ayade – Governor of Cross River State has ordered the distribution of over 200,000 litres of petrol and kerosene in the state capital, Calabar, free to all those that have registered and collected their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs) ahead of the 2019 general elections.
The distribution was conducted yesterday at the old Zoo Botanical Garden in Calabar under the aegis of Ayade’s Special Assistants Network (SAN).
According to the Governor,it was a way of encouraging all eligible voters in the state to register and obtain their PVCs before the extended deadline by the INEC expires on August 31, 2018.
At the venue, there were long queues of holders of the PVC as well as others who were waiting to collected their cards from the INEC.
Each PVC holder chose either to receive kerosene or fuel. Most motorists settled for the 10 litres of fuel each for their cars or commercial buses.
Ayade encouraged the electorate to ensure that they persevered in order to get themselves registered and also obtain their PVCs.
